Hi, I’m Simon Heinrich, founder of PrepareforGermany.
How I support you
I know from experience how overwhelming the first weeks in Germany can feel — especially when everything is new and you’re suddenly dealing with deadlines, forms, and unfamiliar rules. That’s why I write my guides in a way that helps you find your bearings quickly and make confident decisions.
Experience from real situations: For many years, I’ve been helping students, colleagues, and friends settle in Germany — everything from health insurance and banking to typical administrative steps.
Clear instead of complicated: I explain not only what to do, but also why — who an option is for, what to watch out for, and which alternatives can make sense.
Transparent when it comes to recommendations: If there are partnerships or affiliate links, I label them clearly. It matters to me that you can understand how and why a recommendation is made.
Kept up to date: I revise content when rules or procedures change and add a “Last updated” date so you can better judge what’s current.
My story
Even during my studies, I helped international fellow students find their way in Germany — topics like health insurance, blocked accounts, or opening their first bank account.
After graduating, I continued to support international students as well as colleagues who had moved here from abroad. Through my international friends, I also regularly met people who were new in Germany and needed my help.
That’s how I’ve come to know the challenges faced by students just as well as those of employees and freelancers. With bureaucratic requirements becoming increasingly complex, I decided to bring my knowledge together in one central place on this platform. Over more than 15 years, I’ve built up in-depth knowledge about suitable products and services for internationals.
Purpose of this website
PrepareforGermany supports all internationals who are new to Germany, helping them arrive quickly and reliably and build a happy life in Germany.
This includes both practical tips that make everyday life easier and guidance on how to spot and avoid bureaucratic pitfalls early — before they turn into real problems.
