How we recommend products

Prepare for Germany is designed to save you time and get you to the right solution quickly – without unnecessary comparisons.

Ads & affiliate links

Some links lead to commercial providers and are labelled as “Ad” at the relevant recommendation (e.g. a button, a box, or a table link).​

  • Ad = A link to a commercial provider (where you can sign up for paid products/services).​
  • Some ads are affiliate links: If you sign up through an affiliate link, we may receive a commission; your price stays the same.​
  • Extra “affiliate link” label only for buttons/boxes: Where it fits (e.g. recommendation cards/buttons), we label affiliate links additionally as “Ad (affiliate link)”.​

We label “Ad” specifically where a recommendation leads to a provider (e.g. buttons/boxes/tables). Pure source links or internal links are not automatically advertising.​
The label is placed so that you can see it before you click on a sign‑up link.

Our standard recommendations

Our standard recommendations are chosen to work well for most newcomers. Special cases are flagged via “Not a fit if…”, and we’ll point you to a better-fit option or the detailed guide.

How we assess providers

We assess each category using consistent criteria, for example:

  • Value for money (including potential hidden fees or binding terms).
  • Practical usability (setup effort, stability, support).
  • Transparency (clear terms, no unexpected restrictions).
  • Language & onboarding (when relevant: English-friendly onboarding or support).

Updates & sources

Each page shows a “Last updated” date. Where it makes sense, we link directly within the text to official sources and providers so you can verify important details.
