If you need proof of funds for a German visa, a blocked account for Germany is often the key step. VietinBank Germany follows a clear flow: start online, transfer the funds, submit the required documents –  then complete activation at a branch in Germany after you arrive. Multilingual support (German/English/Vietnamese) can be helpful, especially early on.

For the standard use case, these are the key items:

  • Account opening (adults): 0.00 Euro (for openings from 01 Sep 2025; before that: 20.00 Euro).
  • Account management fee: 4.90 Euro (listed as “Kontomanagementgebühr” in the price list).
  • Extension of the blocking note: 35.00 Euro (only if you need to extend the blocked period).

  • You receive account details (including IBAN) right after opening so you can transfer the blocked amount.
  • Partial transfers are allowed.
  • Transfers above the blocked sum are possible; the surplus remains available as balance.

Documents: proof/source of funds

With blocked accounts, it’s not only about transferring money but also documenting where it comes from. Typical proof includes bank statements or a scholarship confirmation. Documents should cover at least the relevant amount and must not be older than three months.

Account holder only

The blocked account must be opened by the account holder (not by friends or family on your behalf). Plan ahead so you have everything ready well before your visa appointment.
